Meet Jude Anthony

Every person has the right to be secure in their food, housing, health & community.

Jude isn’t a politician.
he’s a father, a neighbor, and an advocate.

Jude is a 12-year resident of Maple Valley and proud father of 3 adult daughters and several bonus kids. He is a software developer who had recently left Amazon, and was happily self-employed in early 2025. But as the election filing deadline approached, only one applicant was running for King County Council. So Jude decided to step up.

Jude is running for King County Council because District 9 deserves a voice.

He brings a fresh perspective to the issues of King County, based on decades of industry work solving complex problems with evidence-based solutions, years of advocacy and diversity work, applied psychology training, and 30 years of parenting.

Jude’s campaign is about more than getting on the council. It’s about securing the basic needs of everyone in King County. It’s about actively improving King County through volunteer work and community outreach, even before getting into office. It’s about building relationships with local communities to give every resident of District 9 a voice.

Ready to Step Up for the People of District 9

I'm Jude Anthony.

I was a farm boy on the family apple orchard in North Carolina. I was a college student, Armed Services contractor, and award-winning school volunteer in Florida. In Washington, I programmed for Amazon, then built them a school to train any employee to be a software developer - I graduated hundreds of warehouse workers.

I've worked with and taught soldiers and civilians, kids and adults, wealthy and poor, cis and trans, PhDs and high school dropouts, people of every race, religion, and background.

I've learned that punishment leads to fear, but understanding and support lead to trust and self-confidence. I've learned that my decisions work out best when I seek out and listen to input from many viewpoints.

Above all, I've learned that people succeed when they are secure in their food, housing, healthcare, and community.

I decided to run when I saw the King County Council seat was going unopposed, and I couldn't let 20 years of policies that don't support the people continue without offering an alternative.

Jude’s Highest Priorities

Everyone Deserves quality food

In a county as wealthy as King County there is no reason for anyone to go hungry.

With federal nutrition funding under threat, Jude wants King County to prioritize food banks, nutrition programs, and food sovereignty.

Success Starts with Housing

Even at 30, Jude’s oldest daughter cannot afford to buy a house. Artificial scarcity has increased costs beyond affordability for the American Dream.

Jude will fight to address corporate hoarding, promote a return to traditional mixed-density neighborhoods, and fund owner-managed development of affordable rentals.

Health care is for Every Body

Delayed healthcare costs King County millions in emergency visits and increased insurance premiums. Treating problems early would cost less.

Jude supports universal healthcare, reproductive healthcare, gender-affirming care, and bodily autonomy for all Washingtonians

Community Creates Peace & Prosperity

For 20 years, we’ve tried to address crime rates by increasing spending on law enforcement. If it hasn’t worked yet, it’s not going to work.

Jude knows you cannot punish people into prosperity. Jude supports community restorative justice, and proactive interventions by social workers or unarmed crisis response teams.

Finances need fair funding

Jude doesn’t think it’s fair that the top 5% of King County Residents are making 22% of the county’s income, and only pay 2% of their income in taxes when the average person is paying 10%.

King County fixed its $165 million budget shortfall with an increase in sales tax - a regressive policy that continues to empty the pockets of households making less than $100k, while leaving the rich unburdened.

Jude wants to make taxes more fair, by lobbying to replace state sales taxes with flat income taxes, and balancing the burden with wealth taxes that fund Universal Basic Income.
